Alappuzha is a little town located in Kerala, South India. It is also called Alleppey. Alappuzha is situated 70 km away from South of Cochin. It is one of the popular backwater destination in Kerala. It is known as the Venice of the East because of the canals connects it to the serpentine backwaters of Kerala. Climate of Alleppey is generally moderate. The temperature hardly ever raise above 35oC and the minimum temperature never goes below 20oC. Alappuzha is very popular for its snake boat race. Nehru Trophy Snake Boat Race is organized on every 2nd Saturday of the August. Local people also like it very much. One can hire a houseboat to watch and enjoy it closely. A lighthouse located here is very much famous among tourists. Temples of Alleppey generally don’t restrict non-hindus to enter and worship in the temple. The Ambalapuzha festival is quite eloquent here. The Ambalapuzha Temple is located 14 km from Alleppey. It is quite popular for its rose palpayasam. One can have Indian and Chinese cuisine at the KreamKorner. Visit the backwaters by hiring houseboats. Houseboats are available on hire on daily basis and for longer duration too. It is the only district in Kerala without forest.

Cochin International Airport is the nearest airport of Alleppey. After departure from the airport, one can hire a taxi costs Rs 450 to reach at Cochin and from Cochin, take a bus or train to Alleppey.
By Train
Train are available from Kochi, Thiruvanathapuram, Kozhikode, Bangalore, Bombay, Chennai, Kolkata, Coimbatore and New Delhi to reach at Alleppey.
By Bus
Bus service is available from Cochin.
By Car
