Kasargod is located in the north of the Kerala state, India. Earlier Kasargod is known as Kanjirakuttom. Karargod district is surrounded by Kannu district to the south, Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka district to the south and western ghats to the east. It is bordered by Arabian sea to the west. Kasargod district has an area of about 1992 km2 and an average elevation of 19 m above sea level. It is just a fraction of Kerala state which is said to be God’s Own Country. Kasargod is quite famous for its linguistic variety. It has two taluks Kasargod and Hosdurg; 75 villages; 39 panchayats. Kasargod district is subdivided into development blocks. These development blocks are Manjeshwar, Kasargod, Kanhangad and Nileshwar. It is also called the land of seven languages namely Malayalam, Beary, Tulu, Kannada, Konkani, Marathi, Urdu but English is universally accepted language here. People of South Kerala cannot able to understand Malayalam easily. Kasargod is alos known for its Theyyam festival activity and infact, it is the only district where Theyyam activity is performed. Besides variety of languages, it is also multi-religious region and Onam, Vishu, Ramzan and Christmas are celebrated as the main festivals of Kasargod. Coconut trees bordering hills and streams falling into the sea creates a beautiful scene and represent the majestic beauty of Kerala. One more attraction of Kasargod district is the Bekal Fort, the biggest fort of Kerala. This fort os located just 14 km from Kanhangad and 11 km from Kasargod town. Sightseeings in Kasargod includes Chandragiri Fort, Ananthapuram Temple, Nithyanadashramam, Malik Deenar Masjid, Valiyaparamba backwater, Anandashramam and Kareem Forest Park. The Kareem Forest Park is situated at Parappa close by Nileshwar. There is also a plan for the construction of an IT park by Kerala Government in Kasargod. It will be established in 100 acres revenue land in Cheemeni to bring 50,000 IT jobs in the market. Ananthapuram Temple is the popular lake temple of Kasargod in Kerala. Some other pilgrim centres are Madhur Temple, Malik Deenar Masjid, Mallam Temple etc.

By Air
Nearest airport is Mangalore in Karnataka which 65 km away from Kasargod and Nearest International Airport is Kozhikode which is 200 km away from Kasargod. There are direct flights from Middle East, Singapore, Maldives and Sri Lanka to Kochi International Airport and after reaching at the airport, you can take a bus or train as convenient to you.

By Train
Kasargod and Kanhangad are well connected by railway to the major cities of India. These cities are H Nizamudeen, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Gandhigram, Jaipur, Pune, JAmmutawi, Kozhikode, Thiruvanathapuram, Mangalore, Kochi, Chennai.

By Bus
From the cities of Kerala, you can reach by bus service availed by Kerala State Transport Corporation. These cities are Kozhikode, Mangalore, Kochi, Bangalore,

Kasargod district is also very well connected by NH 17, SH and major roads and you can reach Thiruvanathapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode, Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Mysore, Shimoga, Koorg, Goa.
